Hospitalist – Alice Hyde Medical Center (Malone, NY)

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Hospitalist to join our dynamic medical team. As a Hospitalist, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive care to our patients within our hospital setting, ensuring their well-being and efficient management throughout their stay.

Responsibilities:

  • Work full time on a 5 on 10 off schedule. 5 on is 24 hours (7am – 7pm in house, 7pm-7am consists of call coverage from your home within reasonable proximity to the hospital).
  • Provide expert medical care to an average of 15-20 patients per day during day shifts.
  • Work alongside a dedicated supporting staff that includes hospitalists and APPs, contributing to comprehensive and coordinated patient care.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary medical teams to develop and implement treatment plans, manage patient conditions, and ensure patient progress.
  • Contribute to patient education and family communication, ensuring that patients and their families are informed about diagnoses, treatment plans, and expectations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records, documenting patient care and treatment outcomes.
  • Involvement with teaching & mentoring students

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) with specialization in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine is required.
  • Valid and unrestricted medical license in NY (or ability to obtain).
  • Proven expertise in diagnosing and managing a variety of medical conditions.
  • Strong clinical acumen and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and effective communication with patients, medical staff, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Dedication to patient-centered care and maintaining the highest standards of medical practice.

UVM Health Network - Alice Hyde Medical Center (AHMC) is proud to offer advanced technology and high quality, compassionate care provided by top-notch professionals and physicians. AHMC, located in Malone, New York, is a 25-bed critical access hospital. The inpatient beds are so called “swing beds” as they allow for patients to transition from acute inpatient care to skilled nursing without leaving the hospital. The hospital’s Intermediate Care Unit and Med-Surg inpatient care unit were combined (removing the IMCU designation) but retained all the acute inpatient care services the hospital has provided in the past. This positive change allows the nursing and hospitalist teams more flexibility and support as they respond to patients’ clinical needs through the day.

AHMC is an affiliate of The University of Vermont Health Network, a six-hospital system that serves patients and their families in northern New York and Vermont. Working together as a network we offer high quality care more cost-efficiently and as close to home as possible.
