Job Description

The Robert E. Larner, MD, College of Medicine at the University of Vermont and The University of Vermont Health Network are seeking a full-time faculty member at the Assistant/Associate/Professor level on the clinical scholar pathway to practice outpatient psychiatry through the Primary Care Mental Health Integration service for the University of Vermont Health Network Department of Psychiatry. This attending psychiatrist will provide outpatient psychiatry consultation and follow-up for referred patients affiliated with the primary care medical homes of the University of Vermont Health Network. The attending psychiatrist will have flexibility in their work to include telepsychiatry. They will also have a role as teaching faculty for the outpatient third year psychiatry residents in observing and conducting traditional intake interviews, and in outpatient caseload supervision of these advanced residents in their PGY3 and PGY4 years, as well.

We are currently hiring team members for our continued network expansion of our primary care mental health integration service at the University of Vermont Health Network. The selected candidate will see outpatients for psychiatric evaluations, provide longitudinal follow-up and teach and mentor resident physicians in training in their clinical work in outpatient psychiatry. Clinical psychiatric consultations and follow-up of referred patients from the Primary Care Mental Health Integration service can be done via telepsychiatry which allows the applicant the ability to work remotely or from home for a portion of their clinical time. On-site presence in the outpatient psychiatry clinic is required to supervise psychiatry resident physicians and is also an important part of the role.

Applicants must have a medical degree and be board certified or board eligible in psychiatry. They also must either have or can attain a Vermont medical license. Additional fellowship training in child and adolescent psychiatry and / or comfort in seeing patients across the full age and lifespan would be desirable for the role, however it is not necessary for application. The Robert Larner, MD, College of Medicine of the University of Vermont Network Psychiatry Service hosts medical students on clerkships and electives, sponsors a residency in psychiatry, and a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry.
