The Department of Family Medicine at The Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at The University of Vermont and The University of Vermont Health Network invites applications for a board certified or eligible Hospice and Palliative Medicine physician to join our growing academic Division of Palliative Medicine.


The successful candidate will:

  • assume the Site Leader Role for the University of Vermont Medical Center site of the University of Vermont Health Network Division of Palliative Medicine
  • oversee all day-to-day clinical and educational activities for the University of Vermont Medical Center Division of Palliative Medicine site
  • envision and operationalize growth of clinical services at the University of Vermont Medical Center
  • lead quality initiatives for the Division of Hospice and Palliative Medicine in partnership with other site leaders and the Network Division Head
  • care for patients as part of the inpatient & outpatient palliative care consultation services at the University of Vermont Medical Center
  • demonstrate outstanding communication skills in interpersonal, clinical, and teaching settings
  • enhance the Division's focus on Excellence in Communication quality, innovation, training, scholarship and research
  • demonstrate 3-5 years of experience successfully leading an interprofessional clinical team (preferred but not required)


This position is a 1.0 FTE structured to serve 135 days of inpatient clinical days including weekends and holidays. Additional time will be spent on program development and quality improvement leadership. The clinical appointment will be at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor level in the Clinical Scholar pathway; commensurate with experience.  The University is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their teaching, scholarship and/or service.
