About the Position
We are seeking an Anesthesiologist to join our team at the University of Vermont Health Network, serving Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital (CVPH) in Plattsburgh and Alice Hyde Medical Center (AHMC) in Malone. This role emphasizes personalized, high-quality care within a supportive and collaborative team environment.
- Primary Practice: Predominantly based at CVPH, a 300-bed community hospital with 9 ORs and an Ambulatory Surgery Center. Direct 1:1 patient care is the primary model.
- Team Composition: 10 anesthesiologists and 4 CRNAs across both hospitals.
- Call Schedule:
- Shared equally among anesthesiologists.
- Approximately one 24-hour first-call and one 24-hour second-call per week.
- Calls are 24-hour shifts with second-call providers typically released by 1 PM the following day.
- Calls can be taken from home, provided a 15-minute response time is feasible.
Work-Life Highlights
- Flexibility: Options to adjust call volumes for lifestyle preferences.
- Shifts: Two 8-hour shifts (pre-first call, post-second call) and additional shifts averaging 30 annually.
- Coverage at AHMC: Minimal commitment—typically 1-2 days per month, focusing on outpatient surgeries (e.g., GI endoscopy, ortho, podiatry).
- Time Off: 200 hours of PTO and 10 CME days annually.
Clinical Environment
- Procedures: No open-heart, intracranial neurosurgery, or intensive pediatrics.
- Trauma Care: Level III Trauma Center with criteria for patient transfer for higher-acuity needs.
- Technology: EPIC EMR for seamless care delivery across the network.
- Educational Engagement: Hosts family medicine and emergency medicine residents, with opportunities for teaching.
